Three trends I love for Summer 2021

I finally had a moment to go thru Spring/Summer 2021 catwalks, and boy are there some amazing shoes coming out next summer. It looks like lower heels, and more sport looks are here to stay for at least another year. Chunky and the not so delicate footwear is stronger than ever. I love the creativity, and was very happy to see simple looks being elevated with more creative design. Check out some of my favorite trends for Summer 2021 below.

These remind me of the Japanese sandals called Geta. Although it doesn't have the wooden two teeth outsole, the resemblance comes from the upper. The padded tubular thong straps are appearing with new inspiration. I’m in love with these exaggerated tubular thongs from Jil Sander. Then Henrik Vibskov takes it to another level. These pumps with the same padded tubular around the throat is so good. The not so typical one band is pretty amazing too!

Comfort is still key next summer. Flat forms will continue on. Last year The Row introduced the flat form thong similar to the late 90’s/ early 2000s Reef Butter sandal. I will admit I was wearing that sandal and loved it. This year ATP atelier brought on a more affordable version which you can see here. Next summer we will see the flatform with a little more detail like the ones above by Jaquemus, slides such as the ones above, and this fisherman by By Malene Birger is pretty interesting.

Thong dress sandals trickled in this year in it’s basic form whether it be a kitten heel or wedge. Next year we will see dress thongs in more evolved silhouettes. I’ve always loved this look, and am glad it’s going to be around next year because I did not jump on this trend this year. The above by Munthe, and Nynne.
