Journal of a shoe designer
Simply an edit of 16 shoes that don’t have a pointy toe last. I’ve been on a kick of toe shapes that allow my feet to breathe and also not wearing more than 2 to 2 1/2 inch heels. Here is a curated list.
Over the last year, I’ve been working with a retailer who carries apparel, footwear, and accessories that has a bit of a Kohl’s vibe.
This summer I headed to London for a tradeshow and then headed to Alicante, Spain to review development. It’s always nice to visit the factories, check on the designs, see new materials, visit suppliers, and check out any new constructions the factory may have for future development.
Handbags have never really been my thing. Being a shoe designer, I will invest in a beautifully designed pair of shoes but a bag….meh. Having said I do want to carry a nice bag that’s not crazy expensive with branding all over.
A few weeks ago, I was doing some trend research , and noticed several designer brands using Terry cloth. Then a few days later I went to play tennis and my tennis coach was wearing these Vans x Penn collaboration.
Inspiration is not just coming from shoes or fashion. A few things that are currently bookmarked.
In 2020, I had the opportunity to partner up with animal and wild life advocate, Louise Linton, and assist her in building a shoe collection that was not only luxurious but vegan.

Ts a shoe designer, I’m obviously always looking at shoes. Whether it’s people on the street, online shopping, instagram shoe stalking, shopping at stores, flea markets or on Etsy, shoe voyeurism is top of mind.
